In Process / Alameda

On this Alameda site, a new home designed by Giulietti Schouten Weber Architects (GSW) and built by Don Young and Associates, we sought to bring minimalism and maximalism together to create a unique garden experience which surrounds this new, modern farmhouse. To meet the client’s differing aesthetics and goals, we created spaces that feel more open with less visual variety and those which are fuller with more variety. In the sunny, front garden, we used sand-finished concrete walls to contain the slope and planted it with a colorful mix of perennials, grasses and ground covers. The back garden includes dining and lounging patios, a calming, steel water feature and curvilinear concrete ‘seat walls’ and steel raised veg beds. Completed: Spring, 2023.
